Service Description

Are you a health professional who works with birthing and pregnant people? Would you like an introduction on how to provide competent, culturally safe care to the rainbow community? If so, join us for this 2hr workshop where you will learn the basics of caring for the LGBTTQIA+ community. During this workshop, you will learn the importance of being culturally safe, understand the differences between sex, gender identity, expression and sexuality. We aim to ensure that you gain confidence in providing rainbow safe pregnancy care and being more aware and mindful of how queer people raise babies and create families. This workshop is open to any health professional who works within pregnancy and birth. Whilst it is centred towards midwives and midwifery, the information will be transferable and relevant for any care provider supporting pregnancy and birth. Disclaimer: this workshop is just the basics of providing culturally safe rainbow care, and is the beginning of continued learning, self development and reflection. Sometimes, the conversations are difficult, but we must learn how to sit in our discomfort to grow as human beings.
